Pat Nye

{April 23, 1929 - October 14, 2011}

Patricia Ann Nye, 82, of Luray died Friday evening, October 14, 2011, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.

She was born the daughter of Edward Joseph and Bertha Katheryn (Hilden) Bowden on April 23, 1929 in Keokuk.

Pat married William Wixom in 1946 and Fred Nye in 1960.

She worked as a care giver for Graham Hospital in Keokuk and at the Scotland County Care Center, before retiring after many years of service.  Pat was a long-time member of the Luray Baptist Church.  She enjoyed family, her good friends around Luray and her church family.   Pat was an avid gardener who enjoyed canning, cooking, and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a daughter, Sandra, in infancy; a grandson, Ryan; a great granddaughter, Allyson; a brother, John Bowden; and her close companion Charlie Bittner.

She is survived by her children, William Lee Wixom, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Keokuk, Lynda Golafshar and her husband Houshang from Keokuk, Cathy Hawthorne and her husband Lester of Farmington, IA, Joy Eddleman of Fairfield, and Edward Nye and his wife Darlene of Luray; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; close friends Betty Joe and Robert Smith.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday October 20, 2011 at the Luray Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Boley officiating.  Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Visitation is from noon until 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, at the Gerth Funeral Home in Memphis with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
