Wilma V. Anderson

{February 23, 1921 - August 2, 2011}

Wilma V. Anderson, 90, of Memphis died Tuesday morning, August 2, 2011 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.

She was born the daughter of Carl A. and Frankie (Figge) Yearns on February 23, 1921 in rural Schuyler County, near Queen City.

Wilma married Ralph E. Anderson on October 9, 1940 at Bevier, MO.  He preceded her in death in 2001.

The Anderson’s lived on Rt. D, south of Downing, for 57 years before moving to Memphis in 1997.  Wilma enjoyed sewing and cooking, and especially loved to watch people enjoy the meals she created.  She was kept a beautiful outside flower garden at their home.   Wilma treasured being a farmer’s wife and working with Ralph.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Ralph, Jr.; brothers Henry, Glen, Paul and Junior; sisters Bertha and Freda.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her daughters, Virginia and husband James Simerl of Memphis and Kay Anderson of Lawrence, KS; a daughter-in-law, Betty K. Anderson of Kahoka; sister-in-law Betty Anderson of Downing; grandchildren, Toni, Ed, Kim, Rusty, Stacie, G.E., Mark, Lisa, and Sonya; 25 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 6 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with the Rev. Charles Hammack officiating.   Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery.

Visitation is prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Gerth Funeral Home in Memphis.
