Keith Leon Downing, 80, of Memphis, MO, passed away August 4, 2012, in the Scotland County Care Center.
The son of Ansel C. and Leah G. (Humphrey) Downing, he was born January 25, 1932, in Davis County, IA. He attended elementary rural school and Bloomfield High School, excelling in academics, basketball and band. Later he attended Simpson College.
In 1955, he married Leslie Ruth Thompson and they were the proud parents of two sons: Michael and Scott. Keith was employed by Retail Credit Company for eighteen years and then entered the car sales business. He retired at age 65 and moved to Memphis, MO in 2002.
Survivors include his sons, Michael of West DesMoines, IA and Scott of Memphis, MO; two granddaughters; one great granddaughter; and his exwife, Leslie Downing of Memphis, MO.
Memorial graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Davis County, IA, with Reverend Richard Friend, pastor of the Bethlehem Church , officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Bethlehem Church and may be mailed to Rev. Richard Friend, 30830 Silver Trail, Floris, IA 52560 or to the Scotland County Care Center and can be mailed to Gerth Funeral Service.
