Esther L. Swearingen

{March 6, 1935 - June 11, 2014}

Esther L. Swearingen, 79, of Springfield, IL, died Wednesday morning, June 11, 2014 at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born the daughter of Cecil and Helen (Gilbert) Ensor on March 6, 1935 in Holliday, MO.

She married Henry (Hank) Swearingen on May 6, 1958 in Quincy IL. He survives.

Esther worked as a nurse. She loved flowers and maintained a garden.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Douglas K. and Kevin L. Swearingen.

She is survived by her husband, Hank, of the home; sons, Arthur Swearingen of Springfield and Chris Sunderland; daughter, Karen and husband Dean Argentine of Gulf Breeze, FL; grandsons, Joshua and Zachary Argentine of Gulf Breeze; a brother, Paul and wife Wanda Ensor of Holliday, MO; a sister-in-law, Shirley Ensor of Holliday.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 14 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Jack Sumption officiating. Elaine Forrester and Angela Westhoff performed The Eastern Gate. Jim Kigar, Chuck Kigar, Buddy Wilson, Chris Sunderland, Joshua Argentine, and Zachary Argentine served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Greensburg Cemetery.
