Donald James “Jimmy” Norton, 63, of Gorin, passed away June 18, 2025 at his home.
He was born June 3, 1962, the son of Donald G. Norton and Betty J. (Archer) Norton in Columbia, Missouri.
Jimmy grew up in Gorin, where he also attended school. In his free-time you could find Jimmy in the woods looking for mushrooms, in the creek bed hunting arrowheads, by the river catching loads of fish, or in the garage tearing something apart (not always getting it put together). He loved being outside and took advantage of any good day he had to enjoy it. He was always smiling and ready to crack a joke at any moment. Jimmy loved helping people. If you called — he was there.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings in infancy; his grandparents, Roy and Bertha Norton; and his beloved dog Filo.
He is survived by his daughter, Aleta R. (Justin) Todd of Hamilton, Illinois; one son, Eric Gutting and his fiancé, Nicki of Gorin; his one and only, pride and joy, grandson, Keagan Todd, of Hamilton; four brothers: Randy (Becky) Norton of Quincy, Danny (Connie) Norton of New London, Iowa, Mike Norton of Fulton, Missouri, Darrell Norton of Farmington, Missouri; sisters: Donetta Fountain of Memphis, Susan (Tim) McDuffie of Fort Madison and Cathy Belter of Pontiac, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews.
