It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Gerard Childress ,64, announces his passing on February 16, 2026.

Brian was born on December 2, 1961, in Gary, Indiana, to Donald Dean and Geraldine Childress.

Brian was a graduate of Scotland County High School in Memphis, Missouri. He worked in food service at The Establishment, Haymarket, and Lenoir Senior Living, all in Columbia, Missouri. He later retired from the United States Department of Agriculture, where he served as a Federal Meat Inspector in Ottumwa, Iowa.

When health permitted, Brian enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, playing cards, and watching sports, especially the Scotland County Tigers, Kansas City Chiefs, and St. Louis Cardinals. He was devoted to completing the daily crossword puzzle and staying informed on current events and world news.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Scott Childress; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Frederick) Childress and Jeannie (Prather) Childress.

He is survived by his siblings: Karen Miller (David Brown), Bruce Childress (Teresa), Gary Childress (Barbee), and Chris Childress; Kathy Prater (Ron) and his sisters-in-law, Becky Childress (Randy Henness) and; his stepdaughters, Sarah McQuerry, Stephanie Starke, and Stacy Barker; his grandchildren; several nieces and nephews: Sarah McSparren, Courtney Bonnell, Lacey Hahn, Breanna Childress, Bryleigh Childress, Jared Prater, Lucas Prater, and Bryer Childress, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
