Samuel M. Peterson, 80, of Gorin died Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at his home.
He was born the son of Fred M. and Edna Lee (Price) Peterson on April 30, 1940 in Gorin. He spent his life working on the farm, be it on his parents’ or working on other farms.
Sam married Dorothy Boyd and they had five children: Debra, Allen, Dennis, Arveta, and Carroll Dean. He then married Nancy Young and they had a son, James Michael.
He enjoyed people. Sam never knew a stranger. He liked to take walks and fed every stray cat and dog he came across. Sam was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis Samuel Peterson; sisters: Sharon Kay Peterson and Emma Lee Huling; a brother, Randy Peterson.
He is survived by his children: Debra (Paul) Briggs of Arbela, Allen (Melody) Peterson of Gorin, Arveta Peterson of LaPlata, Carroll Dean Peterson and special friend, Sarah Lewis, of Wayland, and James Michael Peterson of Kirksville; sisters, Helen Bissell of Pulaski and Beverly Givens of Memphis; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and the stray cats and dogs he fed and looked after.
