Mary Ruth Gray, 86, of Memphis died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.

She was born the daughter of Chauncey and Ruth (Northrup) Trask on November 27, 1932 in Memphis.

Mary graduated from the Memphis High School.

She married Robert Gray on September 8, 1951 in Miami, MO. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1994.

Mary was employed as a waitress at various restaurants. She enjoyed country music, dancing, traveling and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: McFarland, Edward, James and Maurice.

She is survived by her children: Connie Goodwin (Tim Current), Rick (Cindy) Gray and Rodney Gray, all of Memphis, and Kathy Gray and Kelley (Eddie) VanHoose, all of Kirksville; brothers: Dale (Maria) Trask of Columbia, MO and Harry Alan (Brenda) Trask of Burke, VA; sisters-in-law, Willa Trask of Springfield, MO and Pauline Trask of Bethany, MO; grandchildren: Jack (Jessica) Goodwin of Ozark, MO, Rod Gray of St. Louis, Dustin Bliefert of Kirksville, Miranda (Patrick) Kelley of Lynn Center, IL, Jacob (Jessica) VanHoose of Hallsville, MO, and Justin VanHoose of Kirksville; nine great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. She loved everybody, touching the lives of everyone she knew.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 8 in the chapel with Jack Sumption, pastor of the Memphis First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery.

Visitation is prior to the service, from 12-2 p.m., on Tuesday.

Memorials are to the Scotland County Care Center.

  2. Precious memories of family visits, a few Trask reunions we were able to attend. Last time together was when Mary and Dale came down to Springfield to visit my dad, Maurice, while Marilyn and I were in the U.S. for a few months in 2015.
